Contractor selected for Bristol housing project

March 2, 2016

Kier Living has been selected as the builder for a new 260-home project in Bristol.

The developer has been selected by the city council to deliver the residential aspect of a 13-acre mixed-use development in Hengrove Park, a suburb in the southern outskirts of the city.

Homes will range in size from one-bedroom flats to four-bedroom houses, with 30 per cent of housing classed as affordable.

The company already has experience of major projects in the area after building the City of Bristol Academy and Hengrove leisure centre in 2012 and South Bristol Community Hospital in 2011.

Bristol’s mayor George Ferguson said: “This development is the first phase of a plan to regenerate Hengrove Park with hundreds more homes and landscaped park that will attract new investment and services to the area.”

The need for new housing in the city was highlighted by a 2014 report projecting an increase in population from 442,000 to half a million by 2029.
